The manual
How the support board works
Everything here happens under an alias. This page walks through both sides — asking for help, and answering someone who asked.
If you need help
- 01
Fill the short form
Go to “Ask for help” and tell us the category, a short title, and your story. Share an amount only if money is what you need. Your real name is never requested.
- 02
Get your alias and private code
The board gives you an alias like “Anonymous Alum #A47” and a private code such as ABCD-1234. The code is emailed to you. Keep it safe — it is the only way back into your request.
- 03
Wait for offers
Old students browsing the board can offer to help. You are emailed each time a new offer arrives.
- 04
Open “My request”
Enter your private code on the My request page to read every offer and reply inside a private conversation. Supporters appear only as “Supporter #1”, “Supporter #2”, and so on.
- 05
Close the loop
When the need is met, mark your request as fulfilled so the board stays honest and current. You can reopen it later if things change.
If you want to help
- 01
Browse the board
Open Requests and filter by category, or search for a specific need. Every story you read was written by a fellow old student.
- 02
Send an offer
On a request page, write a short message and give your email. A first name is optional — the requester never sees your name, email or phone number.
- 03
Save your thread code
You receive a thread code by email. Enter it on the My conversation page any time to continue the private chat.
- 04
Report the outcome
Inside the thread you can mark the need as Fulfilled, Partially met (with a note on what is still needed), or flag it if it does not seem genuine. Flags go straight to the moderators.
How your privacy is protected
- Requests are published under an alias, never a real name.
- Phone numbers and emails are stored privately and never shown on the board.
- Conversations happen inside the board itself, so neither side has to hand over personal contact details.
- Moderators review reported and flagged content and can remove it.
Common questions
- Will anyone see my name?
- No. Requests are posted under an alias, and supporters are shown only as numbered supporters. Contact details are stored privately and are never displayed on the board.
- I lost my private code. What now?
- Check the email you received when you posted — the code is in it. Without the code your request stays live but locked, so keep that email.
- How many requests can I post?
- One live request at a time. After a request is closed there is a 30-day wait before posting again, so support reaches as many old students as possible.
- Does the board handle money?
- No. The board only connects people. Anything given is arranged privately between you and the person helping.
- What if a request looks dishonest?
- Use the report link on the request page, or flag it from inside a conversation. Moderators review every flag and can remove a request.
